Chasing traces of Madame Curie in Warsaw.
Did you know that one of the most well-known scientists worldwide was born in Warsaw?

Her family name is Skłodowska however everybody recognizes her after her husband name Curie. Most of her adult life, Madame Curie spent in Paris working in her laboratory, discovering Polonium and Radium, becoming double Nobel prize winner and a symbol for feminist movement. However she stayed closely connected with the place where she was born and where she grew up.

City of Warsaw has changed a lot since Maria Skłodowska entered a train to Paris in 1891. However we will try to find as many points of reference to her early polish years as possible. Let’s meet at New Town market square in the front of St. Casimir’s Church in January 31st, 1:30 PM.

During the walk we will discover:
• Where Madame Curie was born and baptized
• What was her most favorite every-day activities on her way to school
• Why it was hard to become a scientist in late XIX century in Poland
• How it feels to be a poor student in Paris and how she handled obstacles
• Where was located a first lucky physical Laboratory to host a future double Nobel prize winner
• Where Maria celebrated her second Noble prize award and with who
• What was the toughest decision to make regarding her professional life
• We will also make some small role-playing game to get to know more about Curie- Skłodowska family members
